After playing for 17 years in various formats of wrestling like WWF,WCW,ECW etc finally got a chance to prove his mettle as he wont the Royal Rumble 2004. He indeed won it style, only the 2nd guy [1st being HBK Shawn Micheals] to have won the rumble entering the ring as the 1st contender & won it as the last contender to stand.

Got a shot in Wrestlemania XX for the heavyweight title, it was triple threat match between HBK ,HHH & him, got the belt by making HHH tap out for the crippler cross face. The triple threat match was again rearranged for the next raw ppv which was again won by him but this time made Shawn Micheals tap out with snap shooter [Move invented by Bret Hart Hitman].Defended his title again in the next PPV BadBlood 2004 against Kane.
His historical match was on Royal Rumble 2003 when he took on Kurt Angle for the belt, eventhough ended up on the losing side it was still a great performance and the match was one among the top 50 matches of all time. Lot of his matches features in the all time 50 list .Held the intercontinental belt for a short time in 2002 by defeating RVD but only to lose the belt to him in the rematch.

One of very tough contenders in the ring has faced hugh success on all title that wwe has offered him. Has been a Tag title holder with Edge,Angle, Eddie Gurerro.

One of the member of Team Angle which won the famous Team Lesner in a 5 man tag team match. [team Lesner is said to be the Largest formation in WWE history].

One of the guy who held 2 belts together when he held WWE Heavyweight title as well as shared the honors of WWE tagteam title along with Edge. Virtually played in all type of matches from "hell in the cell",steel cage,fatal fourway,etc. Yet to take part in an elimination chamber match.

One of very hardworking character in the business, and it is a great pleasure to see his name added in wrestling legends list.

When wrestling fans havent recovered from the death of Eddie 2 years before and another legend and Eddie's close friend passed away.

On June 25, 2007, Benoit, his wife Nancy, and their 7-year-old son Daniel were found dead in their Fayetteville, Georgia, home at around 2:30 p.m .

WWE cancelled the scheduled three hour long live Raw show on June 25, and replaced the broadcast version with a tribute to his life and career, featuring his past matches, segments from the Hard Knocks: The Chris Benoit Story DVD, and comments from wrestlers and announcers
